Channeling Healing through my hair Artistry

As a therapist and healer, I channel my gifts to connect with women on a profound level, understanding the rhythm of their bodies and guiding them through the journey of self-discovery and transformation, using hair as a medium. Through Reiki healing and an understanding of the body's natural rhythms, I empower women to embrace the changes within themselves, including those reflected in their hairstyles.

Just as we are influenced by the cycles of astrology and the changing seasons, our hair can be a reflection of these shifts. I advocate for a natural approach to hair care, minimizing chemical services and instead focusing on harnessing the power of our own energy and body cycles. By aligning hair appointments with the natural flow of growth and change, we not only maintain our physical appearance but also nourish our inner selves.

I have personally integrated my connection to the earth and the cycles of the moon and menstruation into my approach to hairstyling. By understanding the emotional and energetic shifts that accompany these natural phenomena, I can craft hairstyles that resonate with each individual's unique journey.

Thank you for entrusting me with your hair care. Through our collaboration, I have gained invaluable insights that have enriched my practice, allowing me to offer a personalized and holistic approach to hairstyling. Together, we reconnect with the essence of our true selves, embracing the magic of nature's beauty and the ever-evolving cycles of growth and renewal.

thank you for trusting me with your hair

What is Ayurvedic head massage ?

As I delved deeper into my studies, I found myself drawn to the ancient wisdom of Eastern massage techniques and Ayurvedic theory. This fascination wasn't just academic; it struck a chord within my heart, compelling me to explore how I could care for others with such precision and intersectionality.

Ayurveda, with its rich heritage and holistic approach to health, offered a comprehensive framework for this exploration.

My beauty salon has become more than just a place for aesthetic enhancement; it's a sanctuary where wellness and self-care converge. The act of providing care in this way feels like a dance in the rhythm of life, where I'm fully immersed in the "flow" of giving and healing. It's a profound honor to engage in this work, fostering a space where clients can step away from the hectic pace of their daily lives into a realm of tranquility and renewal.

I firmly believe that thriving in life necessitates periods of rest and rejuvenation, elements often missing in our non-stop lifestyles. Through the practice of Ayurvedic head massage

I aim to introduce a slice of serenity into your routine, offering healing that transcends the physical and nurtures peace within.

Ayurveda, one of the oldest healing systems originating from India, encompasses a variety of practices, including the deeply nurturing Indian head massage. This therapy extends its benefits across the physical, mental, and emotional domains, enhancing not only one's health but also their appearance and overall sense of well-being. Historically this ritual was a familial tradition among Indian women, used both as a remedy for ailments and as a beauty practice. It was also a skill possessed by many Indian barbers and haircare professionals, illustrating its deep roots in Indian culture.

The modern iteration of Ayurvedic head massage owes much to Narendra Mehta, who, in the late 1970s, brought the practice to the Western world. Despite being blind, Mehta's exceptional sense of touch and his longing for the head massages of his Indian childhood led him to develop a comprehensive technique that went beyond the scalp to include the neck, shoulders, and face, integrating chakra balancing and promoting holistic wellness.

This fusion of traditional and innovative practices, incorporating marma points, herbal oils, yogic breathing, and more, has enriched my beauty wellness practice.

I've witnessed a transformation not just in the services I offer but in the very essence of my salon. It's no longer just about providing stunning haircuts and color; it's about creating a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation, a place where beauty and wellness are inextricably linked. This journey into Ayurvedic practices has reshaped my approach to beauty care, making every session an opportunity for healing, connection, and peace.

In the beauty industry, a realm constantly ablaze with the latest trends and innovations, there's a palpable pressure to always be on the cusp of something new. While I embrace change and the dynamism it brings, I've observed a tendency within the industry to prioritize sales and novelty—often at the expense of genuine value and sustainability. This relentless push for the new and artificial has increasingly felt misaligned with my vision for beauty care.

My ethos centers on whole beauty wellness, an approach that champions holistic practices over fleeting trends. Especially in the wake of the pandemic, as inflation soars and stress levels spike, the quest for authenticity and groundedness has never been more critical. The beauty challenges of our times—marked by a staggering 88% surge in hair loss issues, driven by stress, poor nutrition, high anxiety, and the aftereffects of illness—call for a response that transcends the superficial. The industry's heavy reliance on toxic chemicals further exacerbates these concerns, underscoring the need for a paradigm shift.

In my journey towards whole wellness and beauty care, I've delved into therapeutic massage and all-natural remedies, steering clear of the artificial solutions that pervade our field. Instead of resorting to quick fixes like glue-on or tape-in extensions that not only come with a hefty price tag but also fail to address the root of the problem, I've woven holistic practices into the fabric of my salon. This commitment to quality over quantity reflects a deeper understanding of beauty—one that nurtures the body and soul from the inside out.

By adopting a more mindful and sustainable approach, I aim to foster a salon experience that not only beautifies but also heals and revitalizes. This path less traveled in the beauty business is not just a professional choice but a personal crusade against the superficial, championing a beauty ethos that is as responsible as it is transformative.

love and light- Jen

Navigating Change: Communication in Hairstyling

Recently, I encountered a situation with a client that sparked some reflections on communication in our industry. This client, who comes to me for haircuts while seeing another stylist for color, faced a dilemma. She struggled to express her desire for a different haircut to her colorist, who charges less than I do. This scenario isn’t unique and highlights a broader issue in hairstylist-client communication.

Breaking up with a hairstylist can be a difficult decision, especially if you have built a long-term relationship with them even friends or family However, if you feel like it's time to move on, there are ways to do it amicably:

( coming from a hairstylist I always like to see new clients in my chair and be honest sometimes old clients get stale I get bored doing the same thing over and over,  as an artist I like to see new turnover I do not take it personally. )

To be honest with you lot of hairstylist would tell the same thing they enjoy new clients as well.

if I am not fulfilling a clients needs or if their budgets have changed

We want them to be happy and if someone else can do that that is the end goal.

Be honest: When you meet with your hairstylist, be honest about your reasons for leaving.

This can be as simple as saying that you are looking for a change or that you have found another stylist that you want to try.

The Challenge of Effective Communication

In my 20 years as a stylist, I’ve noticed a common trend: many clients, particularly women, struggle with direct communication. Instead, responses range from lashing out to ghosting – canceling appointments and then disappearing without any follow-up. This pattern isn't just about hair appointments; it reflects broader communication challenges in our society.

Personal Reflections

As a seasoned stylist, I’ve developed resilience to these dynamics. Clients, I’ve learned, aren’t necessarily friends; they are individuals with their own expectations and limitations. For instance, I often encounter clients with unrealistic hair goals influenced by internet trends, like wanting black hair with bleach-blonde ends, but being disappointed with the inevitable dryness. It’s my role to manage expectations, explaining that not everything seen online is achievable or healthy for hair.

The Art of Parting Ways

The core issue, however, is how clients choose to end their relationship with a stylist. Ghosting is common, but it’s neither respectful nor constructive. A straightforward conversation about trying a new stylist for different reasons – be it style, price, or technique – is far healthier. It’s about respect and honesty.

A Message to Clients

To any client contemplating a change, I say this: It's okay to seek something different, just as it’s okay for stylists to welcome change. If you feel the need to move on, do it respectfully. Explain your reasons, and don’t ghost. This approach not only preserves dignity but also avoids the awkwardness or guilt you might feel upon an unexpected encounter later on.

Conclusion

In the end, change is a natural part of life. Both clients and stylists evolve, and our needs and capabilities shift. Honest, respectful communication is key to navigating these changes gracefully. Let's be candid with each other – it makes for a healthier, more respectful relationship in the long run.

LOW-TOXIC Beauty

SET YOURSELF FREE

From Toxins, Conglomerates, Throwaway Culture

As more and more people begin to realize the dangers of harmful chemicals in the ingredients of our beauty products, they are beginning to want more plant-derived and naturally sourced products. Historically, our ancestors not only ate plants, but used plants and fungi for medicinal purposes, used animal hair and wooden brushes to tame their locks, bathed in sugar and salt, and moisturized their skin with honey and plant-based oils. Our skin and hair are important components to having a healthy lifestyle, and what products we used should be as important as the food we eat and the medicines we take.

The majority of people who use mainstream hair and beauty products do so because they offer consistent results, but there is little regulation by the FDA on beauty and hair products and what goes into them. The industry essentially polices itself, determining whether or not their products are safe with very little oversight, but now people are making demands for safer, eco-friendly products and products made from less harmful plant-based materials. Consumers are looking for cleaner products that will be free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and hazardous chemicals like formaldehyde and lead.

In the 21st century, style matters more than ever before. 99% of our clothing is made by sweatshops,

and companies keep pushing mediocre, throw away products that poison our bodies and trash the environment. And then they undercut the small businesses that pioneered their brands by selling direct to their customers onune at a discount.

We've all seen endless examples of this kind of bullshit. It's as if the entire world has spiraled out of control. Everyone is zombied out at a time when we should be paying attention.

We can't wait any longer for someone else to fix this mess, so we decided, "fuck it, let's do it ourselves " We can't allow these conglomerates to destroy our industry, health, and planet. We're on a mission to educate people that it is possible to combine consciousness, style and self-identity.

Embrace Holistic Beauty at Salon 129

At Salon 129 I  am proud to offer a unique and holistic salon experience that sets it apart from the mainstream beauty industry. As the sole proprietor, I personally select each product and service to ensure they align with my commitment to holistic wellness, sustainability, and conscious living. In an era where the dangers of harmful chemicals in beauty products are becoming increasingly apparent, people are seeking alternatives that prioritize their well-being. My salon studio recognizes the importance of going back to our roots and embracing the wisdom of our ancestors. Throughout history, humans have relied on natural resources for beauty and wellness, using plant-derived ingredients, medicinal fungi, wooden brushes, and nourishing substances like sugar, salt, honey, and plant-based oils. I believe that the products we use on our skin and hair should be as carefully chosen as the food we eat and the medicines we take. Unlike mainstream hair and beauty products that often prioritize consistent results at the expense of our health, I have made a conscious decision not to offer chemical services. Instead, I provide low-toxic hair coloring options that are gentler on your hair and scalp. I firmly believe that beauty should never come at the cost of our well-being, and my dedication to offering safer alternatives is a testament to my commitment to your health. Moreover, I understand the need for transparency and accountability in the beauty industry. While FDA regulations may have limitations when it comes to ensuring product safety, I personally curate each product. I meticulously select products based on stringent criteria that prioritize quality, sustainability, and ethical sourcing. By doing so, I ensure that you receive only the best and safest options available. In today's world, where fast fashion dominates and disposable products abound, it's crucial to make conscious choices. I refuse to contribute to the throwaway culture that harms our bodies and damages our environment. That's why I have chosen to offer cult and king products.

I believe in their mission to provide consciously crafted, high-quality beauty products that are free from harmful chemicals and cruelty. By supporting brands like cult and king, I actively participate in the movement toward a more sustainable and compassionate future.

At Salon 129  it is more than just a salon studio. It is a sanctuary for self-care, a space where you can escape the chaos of the world and indulge in holistic beauty. My mission is to empower and educate people about the possibility of combining consciousness, style, and self-identity. I cannot sit idly by and wait for someone else to fix the issues plaguing our industry, health, and planet. It's time to take action.

Join me at Salon 129 as I lead the way in transforming the beauty landscape. Together, we can break free from toxins, conglomerates, and the throwaway culture that pervades our society.

The Power of Inspiration and Self-Care in the Beauty Industry

In the world of beauty and style, one question often arises: Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery, or is it merely copying?

As someone deeply entrenched in this industry, I've come to realize that it's often both, and it's all part of the intricate web of influence. I often emphasize that as I witness the proliferation of various stylistic expressions, the act of emulation can be seen as both imitation and a form of flattery. Influencers, with their power to shape the industry and instigate change, have been instrumental in fueling my personal and professional growth.

I've never aspired to be a commanding figure with a team of subordinates; instead, my goal has always been to inspire others to believe in themselves.

I had the privilege of a client confiding in me that I had rekindled her passion for painting, solely for the joy it brought her. Knowing that my craft inspired her to pick up her brushes again was more rewarding than any financial gain. I've also come to realize that within the beauty industry, one's influence transcends their online presence. It ripples through the community, leaving its mark on local hair salons and beyond.

In our quest to inspire, we often find ourselves unintentionally inspiring change in others. When we observe individuals replicating others' styles, it may not merely be copying; rather, it could be the way we catalyze shifts and motivate people to strive for improvement, fostering a more positive influence on the hair industry.

I love to inspire clients not just behind the chair but also when they go home. Self-care isn't solely about getting a haircut or a new look; it extends to how you care for yourself in everyday life.

Even if you can't afford a visit to the hair salon, do you make time to brush your hair, take a relaxing bath, read a book, disconnect from your phone, or savor a meal with your family? Self-care encompasses these aspects and more.

It's not limited to getting your nails done and feeling great in the moment; it's about cultivating mindfulness in your daily routine. This philosophy has been at the core of my wellness and beauty business. I'm passionate about helping you understand how to care for yourself after leaving the salon, especially in times when expensive services may not be within your budget.

Self-care is about nurturing yourself in ways that are accessible and meaningful to you.

In conclusion, the beauty industry is a realm of inspiration, imitation, and self-care. It's about finding your unique path while also encouraging others to embark on their journeys.

I firmly believe that being a source of inspiration is a precious gift. I extend my gratitude to those who have found inspiration in my work, supported my content, and continued to follow my stories and posts.

So, whether you're a fellow stylist or a client in search of inspiration

remember that your influence can go far beyond what you might imagine. Embrace the power of inspiration and self-care in this ever-evolving world of beauty and style.

 November

It all begins with an idea. we are the Innovators, they are the Imitators

Greetings,**

I hope that this new change of season is treating you well. I always love to share a little monthly newsletter to keep my clients up-to-date on what's going on in and around the salon, along with some hair care tips for the changing season.

**Hair Care Tips for Colder Weather:**

As the weather gets colder and we turn up the heat, remember that this can make your hair color fade faster. Rinse with cooler water and use heat protection when styling.

- *Amika Wizard* is wonderful for heat protection.

- *K18* is my favorite leave-in moisture or leave-in oil.

- *Cult & King* offers a fantastic range of hair products.

**Combat Dry Hair:**

Just as your skin starts to dry out, so does your scalp and hair. Adding moisture and using deep conditioning can be a game-changer for dry winter hair.

**Discover New Wash:**

I've been on a quest for the perfect shampoo lately, and I've found *New Wash*. It's a co-shampoo, a non-detergent wash that feels like conditioner. It cleanses your scalp without drying it out. Training your hair can be tough initially, but it's worth it. Get a free sample today to see the difference!

**Boutique & Unique Gifts:**

This holiday season, let's focus on togetherness and supporting local businesses. I've curated a boutique right here at the salon with gifts from local artisans, including some of my artwork and lightly used clothing.

I also have gift certificates available. Buy a $100 gift certificate and receive $25 free!

**Essential Oils for Wellness:**

With cold and flu season, as well as ongoing concerns about COVID, it's essential to stay healthy. Consider using essential oils in your home to prevent the spread of germs and promote a healthy immune system. It's something I use daily, and I hope you find it beneficial too.

**Upcoming Art Classes:**

In December, we have some exciting art classes at the salon. You can sign up online using the link below for classes like Christmas wreath-making and ornament crafting. There will be more classes in January and February as well.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. Even if you no longer come to the salon, I wish you happiness and health in the upcoming year.

Sending you warm wishes.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Krawiec
